This document sets out the complete framework by which CoinGape evaluates, scores, and determines winners across all award categories in the Web3 Innovation Awards 2026. It is publicly available and applies uniformly to all nominees.
The CoinGape Web3 Innovation Awards 2026 use a three-component scoring model designed to balance independent expert judgment, verified public sentiment, and quantitative data-driven analysis. No single component determines the outcome in isolation.

Data-Driven ResearchFINAL SCORE
1-10Any individual, team, or organisation may nominate a project for a relevant award category. Self-nomination by the project itself is also permitted. There is no nomination fee.
To be eligible for evaluation, a nominated project must meet all of the following criteria:
Each nomination is reviewed by the CoinGape editorial team against the defined category criteria. Nominations that do not fit the stated category are reassigned to the most appropriate category or returned to the nominator for resubmission.
The specific nomination deadline is published on the CoinGape awards portal prior to each award cycle. Nominations received after the deadline are not eligible for the current cycle.
The jury provides the primary expert judgment layer and carries the highest individual weight in the final score. Jury evaluation is conducted independently of both community voting and editorial analysis.
The jury panel for the 2026 cycle comprises industry leaders selected by the CoinGape editorial team based on demonstrable professional expertise and credibility within the Web3 ecosystem. The jury list is disclosed publicly following the conclusion of the evaluation window.
The panel may include professionals from the following backgrounds:
Jurors are assigned only to award categories aligned with their demonstrated expertise. Jurors are not required to evaluate nominees outside their professional domain, ensuring informed and credible assessments.
If a juror has a disclosed conflict of interest in a specific category, they are recused from evaluating that category. In such cases, a qualified juror from the remaining panel is reassigned to ensure uninterrupted evaluation coverage. This process ensures that every category is assessed by the most relevant subject-matter experts on the jury panel. The approach strengthens fairness, transparency, and evaluation quality across the awards process.
Jurors score all nominees in their assigned categories independently using the standardised scoring rubric provided by CoinGape. Jurors do not collaborate during scoring and do not view other jurors' scores before submitting their own.
Prior to the evaluation window, all jurors are screened for conflicts of interest including:
Jurors with a disclosed conflict are automatically excluded from scoring the affected nominee. Their scores for unaffected nominees remain valid.
Community participation introduces a verified public sentiment layer into the evaluation. This component reflects broader market awareness and ecosystem preference, and is structured to measure genuine signals rather than reward coordinated campaigning.
Community voting is conducted through a controlled, time-restricted channel open to anyone with a valid verified identity. Eligible participation mechanisms include:
Each verified participant may cast one vote per award category. Votes are aggregated into a normalised score on a 0–100 scale and converted to the 1–10 scoring range for final aggregation.
The total vote count per category will be published following the announcement of results. This is done in the interest of transparency and to allow the ecosystem to understand the relative level of community participation in each category.
CoinGape applies post-submission validation to maintain the integrity of community scores. The following controls are applied before votes are included in the aggregated total:
Votes identified as manipulative, automated, or coordinated are excluded from scoring without notice. CoinGape reserves the right to disqualify a nominee's community score in its entirety if systemic manipulation is detected on their behalf.
Each nominee is evaluated across six standardised editorial parameters (P1 through P6). These parameters remain consistent across all categories; however, the specific signals used under each parameter adapt depending on the type of nominee being evaluated.
Parameters are applied in a general order of priority from P1 to P6. P1 carries the highest relative weight within the editorial score; P6 carries the lowest. Exact parameter weightings are proprietary and are applied consistently across all nominees within a category. The priority order is as follows:
| Param | Parameter Name | Signals Measured | Priority Order |
|---|---|---|---|
| P1 | Product Utility & Real-World Adoption | Active users, transaction activity, total value secured or processed, tokenised asset issuance (RWA), merchant adoption (payments), node participation (DePIN), circulating supply usage (stablecoins), institutional deployments (B2B) | Primary |

Each parameter is scored on a 1–10 scale. The six parameter scores are aggregated using the proprietary priority-weighted model to produce the final editorial score for each nominee.
In the event of a tied final score between two or more nominees in the same category, a re-evaluation of the editorial component is conducted using a deeper set of secondary metrics specific to that category. The re-evaluation result is final and binding.
Individual parameter scores, jury scores, and final aggregate scores are not disclosed to nominees or the public. CoinGape publishes the award outcome only. This policy protects the integrity of the scoring process and the independence of the jury panel.
Editorial analysis draws exclusively from publicly available, independently verifiable data sources. The primary sources used across all categories are listed below.
| Category | Primary Sources |
|---|---|
| On-chain Intelligence | DeFiLlama, Dune Analytics, Artemis Analytics, Token Terminal |
| Market Data | CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, TradingView |

| Full Editorial Control | CoinGape retains sole authority over final score aggregation, winner determination, and methodology interpretation. |
| No Appeals | Award outcomes are final. Nominees may not appeal or dispute the result of the evaluation. |
